The Tourism Authority of Thailand strengthens partnership with Air Canada to facilitate resumed direct flights on Vancouver-Bangkok route.

In anticipation of the resumption of direct flights on the Vancouver-Bangkok route, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is fortifying its collaboration with Air Canada to attract a substantial influx of Canadian tourists to Thailand.

To kick off this initiative, TAT recently hosted a special sightseeing experience to extend a warm welcome to the Air Canada airline staff, who selected Thailand as the destination for the ‘Asia Pacific Sales Summit’ held on December 6-7, 2023. The event was carefully curated around the themes of ‘Meaningful Travel’ and ‘Sustainable Tourism Goals,’ emphasizing responsible tourism practices.

TAT hosted a special sightseeing experience to extend a warm welcome to Air Canada airline staff at Wat Arun in Bangkok.

A group of 48 participants, including airline officials from various Asian and Canadian countries, immersed themselves in the beauty of Thai culture through an electric tuk-tuk (Muvmi) ride to Wat Arun, a cultural tour along the Chao Phraya River, and an electric boat ride along the iconic river. Culinary delights of Thai cuisine awaited them at Savoey Restaurant in Tha Maharaj Pier.

A noteworthy aspect of the trip was a creative initiative where glass coasters were crafted from surplus construction materials. These coasters were intended for donation to local communities for sale and income generation, contributing to both local support and the success of highlighted tourism routes for prospective airline customers.

TAT executives visited H.E. Ping Kitnikone (second from right), the Ambassador of Canada to Thailand.

In a significant move, TAT executives, led by Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, Deputy Governor for International Marketing Europe Africa Middle East and Americas, recently visited H.E. Ping Kitnikone, the Ambassador of Canada to Thailand. The visit included a warm welcome extended to the management team from Air Canada, culminating in discussions at the ‘Air Canada Appreciation Reception’ held at the official residence of the Ambassador of Canada in Bangkok.

The primary focus of the gathering was to foster collaboration within the tourism industry, placing special emphasis on attracting Canadian tourists and promoting joint tourism initiatives. This exchange provided a valuable platform for dialogue on strategic partnerships and the exploration of opportunities to enhance the tourism landscape between Thailand and Canada. The event was a testament to the commitment of both nations to strengthen ties within the global travel sector.
