After a decade-long pause, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is once again connecting Copenhagen and Bangkok with direct flights. The airline has introduced a new thrice-weekly winter route, deploying its modern Airbus A350 aircraft for this service.
The outbound leg, Flight SK973, is scheduled to operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while the return flight, SK974, will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Both flights are set to depart at night, offering improved connections for travellers passing through Copenhagen.
This revived service is in response to a robust demand for a direct link between Copenhagen and Bangkok, providing a convenient escape for Scandinavians seeking to leave the chilly Nordic climate behind and bask in the warmth of Thailand’s beaches and islands.
“Thailand and the Scandinavian countries have a long history of friendship and cooperation, and returning with a direct route is a true pleasure. The Bangkok route will offer a perfect entry point for wider Thailand and Asia and be a great option for both business and leisure travellers. SAS has opted to use its Airbus A350-900 fleet for this route. With four A350 aircraft at its disposal, the airline introduced its first A350 in 2019. These modern jets offer a significant 30% reduction in emissions compared to previous wide bodies and accommodate up to 300 passengers across three cabin classes, with 40 seats in SAS Business, 32 in SAS Plus (premium economy), and 228 in SAS Go (economy). This strategic move is expected to cater to the needs of travellers while being mindful of environmental concerns.
