Thailand is reaffirming its reputation as one of the world’s most LGBTQ+ friendly destinations with Amazing Thailand Out There, a new tourism initiative designed to attract LGBTQ+ travelers and promote inclusivity.
Launched by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in collaboration with W Hotels under Marriott International Thailand, the campaign coincides with Amazing Romance Month, an annual celebration of love. This year, the event takes on added significance following Thailand’s recent passage of the Marriage Equality Act, making it the first Southeast Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage.

The initiative is the latest in a series of efforts by Thailand to position itself as a welcoming destination for LGBTQ+ travelers. Since 2012, TAT has actively promoted LGBTQ+ tourism through its Go Thai Be Free campaign. The new initiative builds on this foundation, aiming to create a more immersive and authentic experience for LGBTQ+ visitors.
The main event took place on February 11, 2025, at W Bangkok, bringing together representatives from 18 LGBTQ+ travel agencies from the United States, Canada, and Brazil. These industry professionals will meet with Thai tourism businesses, including hotels and tour operators, to foster partnerships and expand travel opportunities for LGBTQ+ visitors.
Beyond industry networking, the event will feature LGBTQ+ influencers from around the world, including social media personalities and couples from the U.S., Australia, South Africa, and Brazil. Thai actor Arm Suppanyu Panatakul and his partner are also expected to participate, sharing their experiences as an openly gay couple in Thailand. The day will conclude with Amazing Thailand Out There Night, a celebration of LGBTQ+ culture featuring performances and creative showcases.
