The launch of TAGTHAi Easy Pay, a new e-wallet service developed by Kasikornbank in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), marks a significant advancement in Thailand’s tourism sector. Designed to improve the travel experience for international visitors, the service enables secure payments using Thai QR Payment technology, facilitating seamless transactions across the country.
The launch event at TAT’s headquarters featured prominent figures, including Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT; Kalin Sarasin, Honorary Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce; and Kattiya Indaravijaya, CEO of Kasikornbank.
TAGTHAi Easy Pay works in conjunction with Kasikornbank’s Prepaid PAY&TOUR card, offering a convenient and secure payment solution for international tourists. The service, the first of its kind in Thailand, supports TAT’s initiative to enhance the digital tourism ecosystem.
Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT, highlighted that TAGTHAi Easy Pay simplifies payments for international tourists.
“By integrating with Kasikornbank’s Prepaid PAY&TOUR card, visitors can make payments like locals, eliminating the need for currency exchange and reducing cash dependency,” she said. “This initiative supports the ‘Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025,’ driving international tourism and sporting events, contributing to the Thai tourism industry’s growth and the 3.5 trillion baht revenue target by 2025.”
How TAGTHAi Easy Pay Works
TAGTHAi Easy Pay enables international tourists to make secure, cashless payments across Thailand using Thai QR Payment technology.
- Download the TAGTHAi App – Available on iOS and Android.
- Link with Prepaid PAY&TOUR Card – Obtain the card at Kasikornbank’s foreign exchange booths, including Suvarnabhumi Airport.
- Top Up Easily – Exchange foreign currency into Thai Baht at the booth; top-ups in Thai Baht or via credit/debit cards are not accepted.
- Pay Like a Local – Use the card at participating stores, restaurants, and services across Thailand via Thai QR Payment technology.
- No Transaction Fees – Enjoy fee-free top-ups at Kasikornbank exchange booths.
- Exclusive Benefits – Tourists linking their card with TAGTHAi Easy Pay receive a complimentary phone strap (limited availability) and special partner offers.
Kattiya Indaravijaya, CEO of Kasikornbank, noted that with international arrivals forecasted to rise by 5.6% in 2025, the bank developed the Prepaid PAY&TOUR card to meet growing demand. She also shared plans to expand the service nationwide after a successful pilot at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
“We’ve developed the Prepaid PAY&TOUR card, which integrates with TAGTHAi Easy Pay. After a successful pilot at Kasikornbank’s foreign exchange booths at Suvarnabhumi in 2024, we plan to expand to over 100 branches nationwide,” she said.
Kalin Sarasin, Honorary Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the growing digital reliance of tourists.
“In 2024, the TAGTHAi app saw over 2 million downloads, reflecting a 105% growth, and a 183% increase in sales,” he said.
“The introduction of TAGTHAi Easy Pay, combined with the Prepaid PAY&TOUR card, boosts convenience and security for tourists, while supporting local businesses across Thailand. This strengthens the tourism sector and its long-term economic outlook.”
