Rosewood Phuket is set to host a two-day event showcasing a fusion of traditional heritage and modern innovation under the Future of Traditions program. Scheduled for December 27-28, 2024, the program brings together culinary artistry and creative craftsmanship in a series of exclusive experiences.

The event kicks off with the Philip Huang & Friends 8-Hand Dinner on December 27 at Ta Khai, the resort’s celebrated Southern Thai restaurant. The dinner will feature an extraordinary collaboration of four creative talents, blending their expertise to craft a six- or nine-course menu. Finnish chef Antto Melasniemi, known for his sustainable and imaginative approach to Nordic and Southeast Asian cuisine, joins forces with renowned artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, who incorporates food into his relational art to foster cultural dialogue.

Ta Khai’s own culinary custodians, Pa Yai and Uncle Nun, will anchor the menu with their signature Southern Thai dishes. Together, the team will present a dining experience inspired by Finnish and Malay culinary traditions, intertwined with flavors from Thailand’s northern and southern regions. Prices are set at THB 3,500 for six courses and THB 4,500 for nine courses, excluding tax and service charges.

On December 28, the program shifts focus to craftsmanship with a Natural Indigo Dyeing Workshop led by designer Philip Huang, a Rosewood Phuket PlaceMaker. Taking place near the resort’s main pool, the workshop invites participants to delve into the ancient art of indigo dyeing, a tradition with roots stretching back over 6,000 years.

Attendees of all ages will have the opportunity to create their own indigo-dyed keepsakes, either by bringing personal cotton garments or choosing from Huang’s curated collection. The hands-on experience highlights the transformative power of ancient techniques in contemporary design and is open to both resort guests and the public.
