Thailand’s culinary scene has reached a new pinnacle with Sorn becoming the country’s first restaurant to earn Three MICHELIN Stars, the highest honor in the prestigious guide. The accolade, announced at the release of the MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2025, cements the nation’s position on the global gastronomic map.
The 2025 edition of the MICHELIN Guide Thailand highlights 462 dining establishments, including one Three MICHELIN Star, seven Two MICHELIN Stars, 28 One MICHELIN Stars, 156 Bib Gourmand, and 270 MICHELIN Selected venues.
A Milestone for Thai Cuisine
Located in Bangkok, Sorn specializes in Southern Thai cuisine, offering meticulously curated tasting menus that blend tradition with modernity. The restaurant first appeared in the MICHELIN Guide in 2019 with a One MICHELIN Star and earned Two MICHELIN Stars the following year, a distinction it held for five years before reaching the coveted Three MICHELIN Star status in 2025.
“Sorn’s achievement marks a historic year for Thailand, showcasing the diversity and sophistication of its culinary scene,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides. “This milestone places Thailand firmly on the international gastronomic map.”
Expanding Recognition
The latest MICHELIN Guide reflects Thailand’s diverse culinary landscape, with notable additions across various categories:
- Seven Two MICHELIN Star restaurants: Côte by Mauro Colagreco joins the list, promoted from One MICHELIN Star.
- 28 One MICHELIN Stars, including five new entries such as AKKEE in Nonthaburi and Aulis in Phang Nga.
- 156 Bib Gourmand selections, highlighting affordable, high-quality dining.
The guide also expanded to Chon Buri, a province renowned for its fresh seafood, adding 20 new entries from the region.

Winter Wonders Await at Doi Tung
The Colours of Doi Tung Festival, hosted by the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, will run from December 4, 2024, to January 26, 2025, at the Doi Tung Development Project in Chiang Rai. The festival, themed “WINTER WONDERDOI: Embrace Joy and Wonder in the Enchanting Hills – Doi Tung x NEW YEAR,” features a collaboration with pop artist NEWYEAR Papakorn Srikalayakorn.

Sustainability continues to play a significant role in Thailand’s culinary evolution. Baan Tepa in Bangkok became the latest recipient of a MICHELIN Green Star, joining PRU, Haoma, and Jampa. These establishments are recognized for eco-friendly practices such as sourcing local ingredients, reducing waste, and engaging in community-based initiatives.
Rising Talent
MICHELIN inspectors noted the emergence of a new generation of Thai chefs, many under 35, who blend international training with traditional Thai cooking techniques. These chefs are reimagining local cuisine, pushing boundaries while maintaining authenticity.
Additionally, longstanding family-run establishments continue to preserve traditional recipes, affirming Thailand’s reputation for exceptional food across all price points.
