Lop Buri, situated 100 kilometres north of Ayutthaya, is renowned for its historical monuments and playful monkeys seeking treats from tourists. In 1665, King Narai built his second palace, the “City of Hanuman,” distancing himself from political intrigues. Despite its ruin, the palace remains a compelling destination for exploration.

During the 17th century, Phra Narai Ratchaniwet Palace hosted elites like Louis XIV’s French diplomats and Constantine Phaulkon, a Greek adventurer-turned-minister. The King Narai’s Reign Festival revives the historical palace with light, music, traditional performances, and a retro marketplace.

As evening progresses, the atmosphere becomes enchanting with the illumination of the palace grounds. Lanterns and traditional lamps cast a spell, reflecting in the palace’s ponds, creating a scene reminiscent of a fairy tale.
